Renovation City Church is a Gospel-centered church in the Bronx. A church that is welcoming, justice-oriented, and rooted in God’s love. 

Renovation City Church is a multiethnic, Bible-centered, justice-oriented, and disciple-making church. We are a church in the Bronx and for the Bronx. We are a church for the unchurched, those who have been burned by the church in the past, and those who desire to grow in a deep and loving relationship with Jesus.

We care deeply about the Bronx, our city, the nation, and the world. We believe that Christ changes everything and provides us with the power and authority to make a transformative difference in the world. We share Jesus' love for the vulnerable, marginalized, lost, and broken. We are committed to being a bridge of the Gospel in a divided world.

  • The transformative power of the Gospel is the core of why Renovation City Church exists. God, in Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit reconciles us, along with our ethnic, generational, class, and political differences to be the new family of Jesus. We are both Gospel-centered, and Gospel-driven. We experience restoration because of the Gospel. We seek reconciliation through the Gospel. We work to rebuild our borough because of the Gospel. Our church exists to be more than just a gathering of people on Sunday. We exist not to only experience the peace of the Gospel, but also to extend it. 

    When we look at the Bronx, we see land that God created, and called good. We see people that God created, and called good. We recognize the good in the people, and the land, are meant to reflect God’s goodness. That’s why we choose to be a community that lives and loves like Jesus. To point others to Jesus, and to do the work of Jesus, so that those around us experience the same restoration, reconciliation, and rebuilding work of the Gospel that we actively experience. That’s what it means to be the church. That’s what it means to renovate.

OPENING LITURGY:

The Spirit of God, is on us, because God anointed us.

He sent us to preach good news to the poor, heal the heartbroken, announce freedom to captives, pardon prisoners.

God sent us to announce the year of his favor— and God’s anger to those who oppose to comfort all who mourn. To care for those who need in the Bronx. To give them beauty instead of ashes, joy instead of doom, reasons to praise instead of despair.

Call them Oaks of Righteousness, planted by God to display his glory. To rebuild what others ruined, To rise out of the damage. To repair the ruined cities, To take what’s left behind and renovate. It is from this place, that we worship.

 

GENEROSITY LITURGY:

Holy Father, there is nothing I have that You have not given me. All I have and am belong to You, bought with the blood of Jesus. To spend everything on myself, and to give without sacrifice, is the way of the world that You cannot abide.

But generosity is the way of those who call Christ their Lord. Who love Him with free hearts and serve Him with renewed minds. Who withstand the delusion of riches that chokes the word; Whose hearts are in your kingdom and not in the systems of the world.

I am determined to increase in generosity until it can be said that there is no needy person among us. I am determined to be trustworthy with such a little thing as money that You may trust me with true riches.

Above all, I am determined to be generous because You, Father, are generous. It is the delight of Your daughters and sons to share Your traits, and to show what You are like to all the world. Amen.

    The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is trustworthy and true in all it teaches.   • ABOUT GOD

    God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. Genesis 1:1,26,27, 3:22 Psalm 90:2 Matthew 28:19 1 Peter 1:2 2 Corinthians 13:14

  • ABOUT JESUS CHRIST

    Jesus Christ is the Son of God and is fully God and fully human. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He rose from the dead after three days demonstrating His power and victory over sin, evil, injustice, and death. He ascended to Heaven and will return again to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.   • ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT

    The Holy Spirit is fully God and is co-equal with the Father and the Son. He is present in the world to reveal our need for Jesus Christ and draw people to faith in Him. Holy Spirit lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He empowers believers for holy living, bold witness, and faithful service. The Spirit gives understanding of spiritual truth, guides us in righteousness, and equips every believer with spiritual gifts. We beleive Holy Spirit continues to work in power today, distributing gifts for the building up of the Church and the advancement of the gospel.     Humans, women and men, are created in the image of God, and designed to reflect His character and rule within creation. People are the crown of God’s creation. And are deeply loved by Him. However, every person has sinned by turning away from God. This sin has broken are harmony with God, one another, and creation. This has brought evil, injustice, and brokenness into the world.   • ABOUT SALVATION

    Salvation is God’s free gift to us, made possible through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We cannot earn salvation through good works or moral effort. We receive forgiveness and new life by turning from sin and trusting in and following Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. When a person places their faith in Jesus, they are forgiven, reconciled to God, and given eternal life that begins now to eternity.   • ABOUT BAPTISM

    Baptism is a sign of God’s grace and a public declaration of belonging to Jesus Christ and His Church. Throughout Christian history, baptism has been practiced for both infants and believers as a sign of God’s covenant and the new life found in Christ. In our church, we practice believer’s baptism, where those who personally trust in Jesus publicly confess their faith through baptism, though we affirm both infant and believer’s baptism.   • ABOUT ETERNITY

    People were created to live forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation in Jesus. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.   • ABOUT WORSHIP AND LITURGY

    Worship is the gathered response of God’s people to His grace and glory. When the Church gathers, we devote ourselves to Scripture, prayer, singing, fellowship, communion, and the teaching of God’s Word. These practices form us as disciples of Jesus and shape our lives around the story of God’s redemption. Liturgy simply means the shared practices and rhythms of worship that guide how the church gathers before God. Through these historic practices, we remember the gospel, encounter God together, and are formed by the Holy Spirit to live as the people of God in the world.   • ABOUT JUSTICE

    God is just and calls His people to reflect His character in the world. Justice is restoring people to right relationships with God, others, and creation. Throughout Scripture, God shows particular concern for the poor, the oppressed, and the needy. Because every person is made in the image of God, we seek to practice mercy, pursue justice, and work for the restoration of broken lives and communities. We believe the gospel not only reconciles people to God but also compels us to love our neighbors and seek the peace and wholeness of our cities.   • ABOUT SEXUALITY

    We believe God created humanity in His image as male and female and designed marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman. Sexual intimacy is a gift from God that is meant to be expressed within the covenant of marriage. All people are called to honor God with their bodies through lives of chastity, faithfulness, and integrity. We believe God’s grace offers forgiveness, healing, and transformation to all who turn to Him. Our commitment to this biblical vision of sexuality does not diminish our calling to love our neighbors. We welcome and seek to love all people, including those who live or believe differently than we do, and we desire to be a community where everyone has space to explore faith and pursue life with Jesus.
